Eduardo Zaborowski has been named Director of Research Computing at Lehigh, following a comprehensive national search. Zaborowski, who started his new position on July 1, 2026, succeeds Ryan Bradley, who resigned from the university earlier this year.
Zaborowski is a distinguished technology executive who has spearheaded high-impact IT initiatives for major research institutions, bolstering the work of numerous researchers across diverse institutions, including Merck and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University. Throughout his career, he has bridged the gap between scientific research and sustainable information technology through strategic leadership in high-performance computing and data science. Zaborowski holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. He also earned an MBA from the Yale University School of Management.
“On the heels of Lehigh’s 2025 R1 designation, research involving high performance computing is a critical area of growth,” said Ilena Key, Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer. "With deep experience in developing research computing solutions in university, pharmaceutical and private laboratory settings, Eduardo is a great match for Lehigh’s evolving needs.”
Lehigh’s Research Computing group, part of the Information Technology Services division, provides high-performance computing and scientific data storage hardware, network infrastructure, consulting and training in support of faculty and researchers across all five university colleges. The Director of Research Computing leads a team that includes a High Performance Computing (HPC) Architect and collaborates with researchers while spearheading long-term strategic planning, advising university leadership on HPC investments, pursuing federal funding opportunities, and representing Lehigh at the regional, national, and international level.
The Research Computing group is integral to some of the most important research initiatives at Lehigh, harnessing the power of Hawk, a 34-node, 800TB Ceph storage research computing cluster, to conduct research on an array of scientific topics spanning physics, chemistry, biological sciences, and engineering. The group anticipates playing a key role in facilitating high-impact HPC projects emerging from the Lehigh Strategy.
